Growing up, my best friend and I always talked about what we would be doing in five years, ten years.  We played MASH, obviously revealing a roadmap to the lives ahead of us:

Where We’d Live – New York City

Married to – <insert name here that would be completely awkward if anyone I put read it…because obviously everyone from middle and high school read my blog posts>

Job – successful TV News anchor (obviously) OR trash collector (we heard they made bank)

Drives – a Lexus SUV (no really, they do make a lot of money, right?)

Wedding Dress Color – lavender

Number of Kids – 17.  (Because it got boring always writing 0, 1, 2, 3.  And it was always Anna’s lucky number)

And finally, what type of living situation would we be in?  M-A-S-H – we almost always landed on “M” for mansion.  And why not?

While it was fun to dream crazy and big, we always knew one thing for sure – no matter where we lived, how horrible our jobs were, or how nerdy our husbands were, we would still be sharing our lives with each other.  Ten years later, we are lucky to say we were right about that, at least!  While we had broken dreams of broadcasting breaking news and writing famous novels, we did both marry our prince charmings and moved into mansions (of the smaller three-to-five bedroom scale) and started working on those litters of babies.

How surreal it is to hold your childhood best friend’s newborn baby in your arms, to watch her become a mother.  To see years of silliness, heartbreak, bad decisions, and innocent laughter culminate into this point – where your past makes you wiser and your dreams are transferred from yourself to your brand new baby.  It’s just awesome.

And so here he is.  A literal chunk of my longest best friend’s heart in the shape of a baby boy.  Mmmm.  My heart is swollen today.

Oh wait, I should share some of her maternity images first, since she went ahead and decided to have Mr. Man before we had a chance to do the 2nd half of her session with the hubs.  Tease 🙂

And the main attraction:
